When conceptualizing the Tube Bracelet, designer Jingcheng Wu wanted to create a bracelet that was not only convenient for everyday wear but also stood out from traditional designs. The idea of a goldsmith's bracelet served as the initial inspiration, with the goal of creating a piece that was tough, simple, and different. To achieve this, Wu broke away from the traditional bracelet design and transformed it into a bangle-like structure, using titanium to provide strength and durability.
What sets the Tube Bracelet apart from others is its minimalist design and the use of titanium. The bracelet features a clean and smooth structure that sits comfortably on the wrist. The hidden clasp, cleverly integrated into one of the links, adds to the bracelet's sleek appearance. The combination of titanium and gold creates a striking contrast, while the black titanium adds a touch of uniqueness to the design.
The production of the Tube Bracelet involves a combination of advanced technologies and traditional craftsmanship. Titanium 3D printing is used to create the base structure, while metal casting, stone-setting, and goldsmith techniques are employed to add the finishing touches. The materials used include titanium, yellow gold, and diamonds or lab-grown diamonds.
With dimensions of 188mm in width, 6.4mm in depth, and 25mm in height, the Tube Bracelet is designed to make a statement on the wrist.
Operating the Tube Bracelet is a seamless experience. The fluidity of the links ensures a smooth and comfortable fit. To put on the bracelet, simply connect the two parts of the hidden clasp into one hole and roll it into a certain angle to secure it. Taking it off is just as effortless - turn it to the angle, pull the button, and it will automatically release.
The Tube Bracelet project began in November 2021 and was completed in May 2022 in Shenzhen. Throughout the design process, the team faced several challenges. Sanding and polishing titanium proved to be difficult due to its hardness, and a special tool had to be invented to push away oxygen during the soldering process. Creating a joint to connect all the parts seamlessly was another hurdle, as was achieving the black color on the titanium, a process that remains a closely guarded secret. Finally, the clasp had to be both easy to operate and secure, without being easily visible to others.
The Tube Bracelet is part of the Tube collection by Wu High Jewelry, which aims to redefine the concept of jewelry. By taking a simple tube and transforming it into a minimalist bracelet, Jingcheng Wu invites wearers to reconsider the essence of jewelry. The combination of simplicity, astonishing color, and impeccable structure results in a bracelet that exudes beauty and elegance.
This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2023.
